Orienteering Instructor — Level 1: The First Stage of the Programme Has Been Completed
🎉 The educational programme “Orienteering Instructor — Level 1” has been completed!
From May 21 to June 7, the first stage of the educational programme for orienteering instructors was held at the Georgian State University of Sport.

The Georgian State University of Sport was a key partner of the programme, while the training was delivered in cooperation with the Sakartvelo Orienteering Club team and Sport for Development — Georgia.
The programme was designed for physical education and sport teachers and combined both theoretical and practical training.
Participants studied the basics of orienteering, map reading, symbols and colours, school and park orienteering formats, maze and indoor orienteering exercises, compass use, landforms and the planning of simple training activities.

The practical part of the programme took place in different environments — at the university sports complex, in Mziuri Park, Vake Park, Dighomi Forest Park and the forest area near Lisi Lake.

The final part was held on June 7 as part of the 2nd stage of the Tbilisi Orienteering Cup, where participants applied their newly gained knowledge in a real competition environment.
A total of 10 physical education and sport teachers successfully completed the programme.

The second part of the programme will take place in November with the participation of the programme partners — the Swedish club Idrefjällens OK and the Turkish club Pikolo SK.
The project “Orienteering — Georgia” is implemented with the support of the European Union’s Erasmus+ Sport programme.
Thank you to all participants, trainers and partners for this important step in the development of orienteering in Georgia! 🌍🧭
